About the Journal

BORNEO Journal of Engineering and Applied Science (BJEAS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access scientific journal published four times a year — in March, June, September, and December — by the Center for Research and Community Service (P3M), Politeknik Negeri Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

BJEAS was founded on the conviction that applied engineering research produced in and about Borneo deserves a rigorous international platform. The island of Borneo presents a distinctive combination of engineering conditions — deep peat and soft soils, extensive river transport networks, humid tropical climate, abundant coal and mineral resources, expanding renewable energy potential, and the accelerating development associated with Indonesia's new capital city, Nusantara. Research responding to these conditions has global relevance for tropical and developing regions, yet remains under-represented in the international literature. BJEAS exists to close that gap.

The journal publishes original research articles, systematic and critical review articles, short communications, and technical case studies. All submissions are screened for similarity, assessed for scope by the editorial team, and evaluated through double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers. Editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific quality, methodological soundness, originality, and relevance of the work, and are made independently of the authors' nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, ethnicity, or seniority.

BJEAS operates as a diamond open access journal: all articles are freely available to read, download, and reuse immediately upon publication, and no charge is levied on readers. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (CC BY-SA 4.0), with copyright retained by the authors. Every article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and is deposited in the journal's digital preservation network.

BJEAS adheres to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing jointly issued by COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, and WAME, and follows the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in handling all ethical matters.
